Things to do in Tigre

Tigre sits roughly 30 km north of central Buenos Aires and is the gateway to the Paraná Delta rather than part of it. Trains on the Mitre line from Retiro, or the more scenic Tren de la Costa, cover the distance in about an hour, making Tigre an easy day trip.

The town itself is worth the stop before any boat: the old railway station, the rowing clubs lining the Río Luján, and the Puerto de Frutos craft and basketry market, open daily, its stalls of wicker and woodwork a reminder that this was once a working fruit port.

Delta boat trips run separately from a nearby dock and are covered elsewhere; this page stays on dry land in Tigre itself, best visited in the cooler morning hours given the humidity of a Buenos Aires summer.
