Things to do in Puerto Madero

Puerto Madero is Buenos Aires' youngest barrio: a strip of converted 19th-century brick docks flanked by glass office towers and riverfront apartment blocks, mostly built from the 1990s onward. There is no colonial core and no historic plaza here, so treat it as a waterfront walk and a dinner spot rather than a sightseeing goal.

The Puente de la Mujer footbridge and the red-brick dock buildings make for an easy hour along the water, and restaurant mains along the docks typically run EUR 15-30. Fast ferries to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, about an hour away, leave from the terminal here, and the Costanera Sur reserve sits right next door.

In summer the docks offer little shade after mid-morning.
