Things to do at Recoleta Cemetery

Recoleta Cemetery is a walled city of marble mausoleums in the middle of the Recoleta barrio, and it is a different visit from the neighbourhood around it. Entry is ticketed for non-residents, at a price that has changed more than once, so check the current rate before arriving.

Allow one hour to an hour and a half to walk the narrow lanes between the family vaults, many over a century old. Eva Peron is buried here, in the Duarte family vault rather than a monument of her own, and the grave is easy to walk past without staff or signage pointing the way.

The cemetery is a regularly visited heritage site within a wealthy district, not a curiosity to seek out for shock value, and it draws a steady flow of visitors through the day.
