Things to do at El Monumental
El Monumental is River Plate's stadium in Núñez, in the north of the city, well beyond the barrios most visitors base themselves in — allow 30 to 45 minutes by taxi or remise from the Microcentro, more in traffic. It also hosts the national team, and at roughly 70,000 seats it is Argentina's largest ground, well above La Bombonera's capacity.
Outside match days it opens for a stadium tour and the club museum, priced separately or combined, typically running from around EUR 15 to EUR 25 depending on the package; check current hours before travelling, since these shift on match weeks.
The rivalry with Boca Juniors, the superclásico, is the fixture people ask about; the surrounding streets are quiet and residential, nothing like Caminito's souvenir stalls.
