Things to do in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is a flat, dense capital of distinct barrios rather than a single sightseeing zone, so the practical question is where to base yourself and how to get around.

Intercontinental flights land at Ezeiza (EZE), roughly 30-35 km south-west of the centre and 45-75 minutes by road; domestic and regional flights use Aeroparque (AEP), on the riverfront near Palermo, usually 15-30 minutes out. The Subte metro and the colectivo buses both require a SUBE card, bought at stations and kiosks on arrival.

This is a southern-hemisphere city: summer runs December to February, hot and humid, while spring (September-November) is the most comfortable season, with the city's jacarandas flowering purple from late October. Winter, June to August, is cool and damp, not tropical.
